Graduate Degree
A graduate degree awards an advanced academic degree i.e. master’s degree, MBA or Ph.D. with a minimum requirement of graduate degree.
Students after completing graduate degree are awarded with master’s degree, doctoral degree or postgraduate degree certificate. A graduate degree is often regarded as professional degree. A graduate school experience is very different from undergraduate school; it involves more of practical knowledge, more research and much more in depth study along with thesis work.
Many fields require students to do research or teaching, such students are given stipend and their tuition fee is also cut down. Many universities have their own policies regarding stipend and scholarships and fellowships.
Research option is mostly opted by students with respect to teaching option. Students consider that teaching is a distraction from one’s main path but research work would help them gain more knowledge. Research option is mainly available in science disciple, it is not offered in fields of humanities, arts or commerce, etc. Because of the growing competition many elite universities keep revising their policies of stipends offered to students.
Graduate student undertaking research has to submit a thesis covering their research work documents and data analysis. Some fields may even require students to study at least one foreign language.
